Project Green Hands

“Trees are our closest relationship. What they exhale, we inhale. What we exhale, they inhale. This is a constant relationship that nobody can afford to break or live without."
And we as human beings who are largely responsible for the most of the environmental hazards that are being posed today due to our intervention onto the environmental balance

Much of the environmental hazards faced by us today can be linked to large scale cutting down of trees (deforestation). It is not enough that we just stop our activities now at the present time of crisis but reverse the conditions with speedy and large scale planting of trees (afforestation)

Project green hands is one such initiative that aims at retaining 33% Earth’s green cover that is ideal to sustain life. They have planted 8, 52,587 tree saplings on a single day during last year to inspire the people for this drive that holds the Guinness record for most number of trees planted on a single day.

They aim to plant 114 million trees by the year 2010 in the entire state of Tamil Nadu and selected locations in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa and in the Union Territories of Pondicherry and Delhi .

The action plan for this year 2007 is to plant 25 million tree saplings in different parts of Tamil Nadu.

The project requires public support through awareness, a huge cost that is involved in planting and maintaining such large number of saplings and networking a large number of volunteers and rural people. This project in addition to its intended environmental benefits also provides livelihood for those rural people who are involved in preparing the nurseries of plant saplings, planting and maintaining them.

Hereby I am obliged to pass on the information of the initiatives taken by Project Green Hands. PFA more information about this project and you can visit the link

E-Waste?

I'm very proud to participate in Blog Action day. I always had thoughts in my mind about environment in the blog. Thanks to http://www.blogactionday.org for providing me this great opportunity. OK. Let us talk about E-Waste. Being an Indian, I'll talk about What is it all about? and what is the status of it in India? Obviously my first reference about this in Wiki, "Electronic waste includes computers , entertainment electronics , mobile phones and other items that have been discarded by their original users. " Due to lack of time.. I just introduce you guys a web-site http://toxicslink.org/ which has so many articles about the environment... I request all of my readers to read and understand and think ourselves to take necessary steps. If i get time I'll post more about E-Wastes and Environment based articles more. Blogspot's blog posts archived before WWW created... lol

Haha... Isnt it really funny. While browsing, i came across some of the blog posts archived even before WWW(World Wide Web) created... You can look at the screenshots in the left and right hand side. I'm just wondering how Google's blogger allowed to have such things...? Is it really possible to pre-post the blogs even before the WWW & Blog was created? It left me to research when was really WWW created? I just searched on Wiki, to get the answer.., From Wiki, "...The World Wide Web was created in 1989 by Sir Tim Berners-Lee from England , and Robert Cailliau from Belgium , working at CERN in Geneva , Switzerland ..." Hope Wiki is not lying to me... ;-) . Hmm... So i thought Blog must be created after WWW was created... I guess you might be guessing the same.. some research vaguely shows, from wiki, Usenet was the primary serial medium included in the original definition of the World Wide Web .
